U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters

Suitland, Maryland

<  >

DMJM, in joint venture, is currently providing construction management (CM) and commissioning services for the $350 million bridging design/build of the new U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. This is the largest General Services Administration (GSA) project of this type to date. The CM contract was awarded in March 2002 for base contract services through June 2003; it includes both the bridging design phase and procurement of the design/build phase. Contract options may be exercised for construction period services, post-construction services, and supplemental services. Within this capacity, DMJM is managing the bridging architect to develop concept design. We will also manage the design/builder through design and construction of new office space totaling 1.5 million square feet, and two parking structures that total 1 million square feet. The project schedule is based on occupancy of the new buildings in March 2007 to support the initial activities of the 2010 Decennial Census.
