Under an infrastructure support services contract with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), DMJM provides design, management, and technology support to 10 FEMA regions covering all 50 states. DMJM has responded to all types of disasters, ranging from riverine and coastal flooding to hurricanes, typhoons, earthquakes, and tsunamis, as well as the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on New York City. The Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Operations Center, located in World Trade Center Building 7 prior to the attack, was destroyed by the collapse of the twin towers. Under contract to FEMA and as part of the emergency response to the disaster, DMJM mobilized an A/E team to design and establish a budget for a replacement facility. The replacement facility included redundant infrastructure for electrical and communications service, as well as specialized HVAC treatment to protect against biological attack. The structure was designed to withstand the blast wave from specified nuclear events. The OEM Operations Center design also included the integration of secure networks and technologies. |
